Football Game Preview: Carver Yellowjackets vs. Morehead Panthers + Official Tickets

The Carver Yellowjackets will face off against the Morehead Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Things were looking good for Carver after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 34-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bartlett Yancey. The Yellowjackets were up 16-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Carver might have lost, but man, Derrick Reid Jr was a machine: he rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Morehead played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Walkertown 34-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while the Wolfpack are ranked 118th).

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 6-4. As for Morehead, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Everything came up roses for Carver against Morehead in their previous matchup back in September, as the squad secured a 28-0 win. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
