Softball Game Preview: Calistoga Wildcats vs. Tomales Braves

Calistoga is a perfect 8-0 against Tomales since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Braves at 4:00 p.m. Calistoga will be strutting in after a win while Tomales will be coming in after a defeat.

Calistoga will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Technology on Friday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 33-2 margin over the Titans. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by nine runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Tomales' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Point Arena by a score of 10-8.

Tomales' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Calistoga, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-4.

Everything went Calistoga's way against Tomales when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Calistoga made off with a 9-2 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
