Basketball Game Preview: Glynn Academy Terrors vs. Brunswick Pirates

Glynn Academy hasn't had much luck against Brunswick recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Glynn Academy Terrors will venture away from home to challenge the Brunswick Pirates at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Glynn Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-40 to Bradwell Institute. While losing is never fun, the Terrors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Tigers are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Brunswick's strategy against Beach on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Brunswick blew Beach out of the water with a 78-31 final score. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Glynn Academy better keep an eye on Martin Davis. She was instrumental in Brunswick's win, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. Davis is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Samyya Gilbert, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds.

Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 41 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Brunswick is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for Glynn Academy, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-8.

Glynn Academy suffered a grim 71-49 defeat to Brunswick in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Glynn Academy, Jermiyah Ramsey (who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on her way to 36 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
