Softball Recap: Franklin Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Franklin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They put the hurt on the River City Raiders with a sharp 11-1 victory on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Leilani Garcia looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Micayla Arlotto, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Leah Pham also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10-1 record this season. As for River City, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-18.

Coming up, Franklin will be playing at home against Laguna Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for River City, they will venture away from home to challenge Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
