Volleyball Recap: Macdonald Comes Up Short on the Road Against Mt. Pleasant

MacDonald had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 17 in a row.

The 3-2 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets MacDonald lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-12.

Ethan Bugarin paced MacDonald's offense, picking up 18 kills. Bugarin got some help from Dylan Bugarin and his 22 assists. Finally, Tobin Ley kept MacDonald's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

The win got Mt. Pleasant back to even at 1-1.

MacDonald will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Santa Clara at 6:45 p.m. on March 17th. The match will give Santa Clara their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Mt. Pleasant, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Hill on the 6th.
