Preview: Bronaugh Wildcats vs. Chilhowee Indians
The Bronaugh Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Chilhowee Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bronaugh has struggled recently with 11 losses in a row, while the Indians will arrive with five straight wins.
Last Monday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Bronaugh had to settle for a 34-32 loss against the Tigers.
Despite the defeat, Bronaugh saw an underclassman step up: Jada Brundridge scored five points along with 11 steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Gretchen Banes, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Chilhowee made easy work of the Panthers on Friday and carried off a 41-18 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Chilhowee just coasted through the last quarter.
Bronaugh has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Chilhowee, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Bronaugh was taken down by the Indians 51-24 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Bronaugh avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
