Baseball Recap: Riverdale Triumphs

While Riverdale's victory against Cory-Rawson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Fighting Hornets 8-7. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Fighting Hornets: they've now won six in a row.

Grady Phelps was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Riverdale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Evan Reiter was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

The victory got Riverdale back to even at 9-9. As for Cory-Rawson, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Coming up, Riverdale will host Van Buren at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cory-Rawson, they will head out to take on Arlington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Hornets are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
