East Davidson is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out to square off against the Salisbury Hornets at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
East Davidson proved they can win big last Monday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Wheatmore 8-7. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

SOPHIE HAMPTON was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kyleigh Hedrick was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
East Davidson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Salisbury put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Thomasville. Salisbury blew past Thomasville 18-0. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hornets yet this season.
Ashley Yang and Allison Peeler made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Yang pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Peeler pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Yang gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Yang scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3, while Peeler went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Yang is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Blackwell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Teashia Ellis, who scored a run while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
East Davidson's record is now 2-3. As for Salisbury, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Davidson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Salisbury struggles in that department as they've averaged .399. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Davidson came out on top in a nail-biter against Salisbury when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Will East Davidson repeat their success, or does Salisbury have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
