Basketball Recap: Walnut Springs Hornets vs. Bynum Bulldogs

After flying high against Morgan last Tuesday, Walnut Springs came back down to earth. The Walnut Springs Hornets fell just short of the Bynum Bulldogs by a score of 38-36 on Thursday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Bynum got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colin Poole out in front who posted eight points along with seven boards and four steals. Poole has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Joshua Castro was another key player, putting up six points along with five boards and four steals.

Walnut Springs' loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Bynum, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Walnut Springs will head out to square off against Bluff Dale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bynum, they and Abbott will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Bynum's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so Abbott's offense will have their work cut out for them.
