Basketball Recap: Town East Christian Comes Up Short on the Road Against Salem Sayers Baptist Academy

Town East Christian had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a hard 67-49 fall against Salem Sayers Baptist Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 50-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gideon P, who posted 18 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ben H, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Guy Crow had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 9-for-15 from long range and dropping a double-double with 39 points and 12 boards for Salem Sayers Baptist Academy. Crow also grabbed three steals, which is notable because Salem Sayers Baptist Academy is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 1-4 otherwise. Garrett Zamora was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Salem Sayers Baptist Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Town East Christian will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Salem Sayers Baptist Academy, they will be home for the holidays to greet Gloria Deo Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
