Allie Grooms made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Emmery Simpson and Breeanna Jimison did most of the damage at the plate: Simpson went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Jimison went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Simpson a new career-high. Lilly Yuppa was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Eastern lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
West Union's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Eastern, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
