Football Recap: Lowell Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Lowell had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.2 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Munster Mustangs 49-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Red Devils' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Mustangs are ranked 168th).

While passing duties were split, you can't argue with the impact Gavin Gutierrez and Brody Kalwinski both made on the game. Gutierrez picked up 123 receiving yards and two TDs while Kalwinski threw for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Kalwinski a new career-high in passer rating (165.2).

Lowell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 333 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 151 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.

Lowell's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Munster, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
