Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Independence Blue Devils. Six seems to be a good number for the Royals as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Ryan Tajgiszer looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Lancy, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Ryan Wiehe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Independence, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy will face off against Mentor at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Royals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
