Soccer Game Preview: Menendez vs. St. Joseph Academy

The Menendez Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the St. Joseph Academy Flashes at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Menendez was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Johns Country Day, taking the game 3-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Joseph Academy). They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Christ's Church Academy on Tuesday. Luke Wilson was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Something new happened on Tuesday as Matteo Parisi saw his first action of the season, playing 25 minutes against Christ's Church Academy. Parisi made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

St. Joseph Academy pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Menendez, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-2.

Menendez skirted past St. Joseph Academy 2-1 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Menendez since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
