Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Mancelona's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Mancelona won against Manton on Thursday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Ironmen walked away with a 6-2 victory over Mio HomeSchool. While the Ironmen didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mancelona let Jayden Lanning and Ryan Naumcheff run wild. Lanning went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Naumcheff went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Naumcheff a new career-high.

Mancelona is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mio HomeSchool, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Coming up, Mancelona will host Pine River Area at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bucks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Ironmen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mio HomeSchool, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alcona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
