Baseball Recap: Lompoc Comes Up Short

Lompoc easily dispatched Arroyo Grande on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Braves fell just short of the San Luis Obispo Tigers by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Blake Bailey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lompoc's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cameron Baker, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Lompoc has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for San Luis Obispo, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Lompoc does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Luis Obispo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Morro Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
