Basketball Recap: Tabiona Tigers vs. Wendover Wildcats
The Tabiona Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 55-43 victory over Wendover. This was a revenge match for Tabiona, as the team was forced to settle for a 51-50 defeat when these two played last Friday.
Tabiona got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Rhoades out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Rhoades is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Rhoades, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tre Tangaro, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Efren Delmuro, who scored ten points.
Tabiona is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Wendover, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tabiona will play host again and welcome the Longhorns, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Altamont has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. As for Wendover, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m.
