Basketball Recap: East Butler Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mead

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Butler). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Mead Raiders 58-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Tigers have posted since December 15, 2023.

Lillie Kriz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 5-for-7 from deep and almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of East Butler's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Margret Pekarek, who posted 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

East Butler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Mead lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lauren Miller, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points. Jade Grasiani also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

East Butler's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Mead, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Butler will take on Meridian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mead has already played their next game (against Lyons-Decatur Northeast), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
