Softball Game Preview: South Dearborn Knights vs. Connersville Spartans

South Dearborn hasn't had much luck against Connersville recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Spartans at 11:00 a.m.

South Dearborn managed to slip by East Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Knights lost 30-1 to the Trojans on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Connersville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 12-1 victory.

The team relied heavily on Carmen Ruble, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jade Green, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Connersville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

The win got Connersville back to even at 6-6. As for South Dearborn, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

South Dearborn came out on top in a nail-biter against Connersville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
