Basketball Recap: West Brunswick Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ja'kya Johnson and Saniya Stanley

West Brunswick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost to the Ashley Screaming Eagle at home by a 47-32 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-37 back in January.

Saniya Stanley and Ja'Kya Johnson certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Stanley dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Johnson posted seven points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Stanley a new career-high in assists (four).

Among those leading the charge was Jaeden Hudson, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ella Rose, who had 12 points and five boards.

West Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Ashley, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-12.

West Brunswick and South Brunswick will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Ashley, they and North Brunswick will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Ashley is facing North Brunswick at the right time seeing as North Brunswick is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
