Softball Game Preview: Sylacauga Aggies vs. Munford Lions

The Sylacauga Aggies will head out on the road to face off against the Munford Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Munford took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sylacauga, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Sylacauga needed a bit of extra time to put away Shelby County. They skirted past the Wildcats 9-8. The victory was some much needed relief for the Aggies as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Natalee Deason spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie Moland, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Josie Harshberger was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-6.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Munford faced off against Handley on Thursday. The Lions fell 5-2 to the Tigers. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Munford saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Pickette, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Munford's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 18-4. As for Sylacauga, their record is now 7-14.
