Softball Recap: East Bernard Extends Road Winning Streak to Nine

East Bernard put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's sixth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They didn't even let the Brazos Cougars on the board, marking the Brahmas' second-straight 6-0 shutout. Considering the Brahmas have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Rylie Holder, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Brazos off the board. Holder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Samantha Fryer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylie Zarate, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

East Bernard's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Brazos, their loss dropped their record down to 9-17-1.

As of now, neither East Bernard nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
