Recap: Athens Indians vs. Mendon Hornets

Sadly, the Athens Indians are still looking for their first win of the season after 15 contests. They had to suffer through a rough 66-26 loss at the hands of Mendon. Athens found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 11 fewer assists than your opponent.

Athens' loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Kale Kiefer and Addison Stanton. Kiefer scored nine points, while Stanton scored five points along with two steals.

Mendon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryder Gorham out in front who scored 20 points. Quincy Blair was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Athens dropped their record down to 0-15 with that loss, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mendon, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Athens will head out on the road to square off against Calhoun Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Athens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday. As for Mendon, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Philip Catholic Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mendon is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
