Softball Recap: Colton Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

After only one run in their last game, Colton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Adelanto on Monday. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

JASMINE DELAROSA made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Colton got a massive performance out of STEPHANIE DELACRUZ, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave DELACRUZ a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JOCELYN ORNELAS, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Colton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Colton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Adelanto, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Colton will be playing at home against Jurupa Hills at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.58 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Adelanto, they will head out on the road to challenge Victor Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saints are facing the Jackrabbits at the right time seeing as the Jackrabbits are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
