Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask NCSSM: Durham). They claimed a resounding 85-56 win over the East Wake Academy Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Unicorns have posted since November 15, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead NCSSM: Durham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jay Peng, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 24 points and five assists. Peng has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chris Chen, who went 10 of 13 en route to 24 points.

Peng wasn't the only one working in the assists department: NCSSM: Durham was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win (which was NCSSM: Durham's third in a row) raised their record to 7-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for East Wake Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

NCSSM: Durham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-30 defeat against Northeast Guilford on the 15th. As for East Wake Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Franklin Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Franklin Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three contests.
