Basketball Recap: Brayden Walder Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Georgetown-Ridge Farm

There's no place like home for Hoopeston, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 56-47 victory over the Georgetown-Ridge Farm Buffaloes on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Cornjerkers in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now won five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoopeston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brayden Walder, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 19 points and three steals. The game was Walder's third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Montez, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jase Latoz, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 20 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Ajhon Watson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

Hoopeston's record is now 17-11. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-25 record this season.

Coming up, Hoopeston will square off against Chrisman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, they will take on Armstrong at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Armstrong will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Georgetown-Ridge Farm surely won't give up without a fight.
