Softball Game Recap: Robertson County Black Devils vs. Nicholas County Bluejackets

Robertson County extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-10. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-1 to the Nicholas County Bluejackets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 on Tuesday.

As for Nicholas County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

For Nicholas County's part, Ady Dunn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Dunn has posted over her last eight games. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Nicholas County got a massive performance out of Natalie Mitchell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Mitchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailey Riggs, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Coming up, Robertson County will welcome Calvary Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.75 runs per game on average), something the Black Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Nicholas County, they will face off against Powell County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
