Blue Island Eisenhower hasn't had much luck against Lemont recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cardinals will take on the Lemont HS at 4:30 p.m. Blue Island Eisenhower is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Blue Island Eisenhower will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Kennedy on Wednesday. The Cardinals blew past the Crusaders 13-3. The Cardinals not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 16-6).
Marisa Blackhawk spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on zero hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Sydney Clark was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 matchups. Lana Krapf was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Blue Island Eisenhower was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are 5-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Lemont got themselves on the board against Argo on Wednesday, but Argo never followed suit. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Argonauts 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Lemont HS in their matchups with the Argonauts: they've now won eight in a row.
The result came thanks to Mila Mardjetko's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Lemont's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Lagan, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Blue Island Eisenhower's record now sits at 9-16. As for Lemont, their record is now 16-7.
Blue Island Eisenhower might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Lemont when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
