Football Recap: Menendez Comes Up Short

After flying high against Parker last Friday, Menendez came back down to earth. The Falcons were beaten by the Ponte Vedra Sharks 48-6 on Thursday. The Falcons have struggled against the Sharks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Menendez lost, don't look at Jayden Roberts. Despite the final result, he picked up 103 receiving yards and one TD.

Even if they lost, Menendez's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jaryius Lewis, Jon Paul Denight, and Jaden Logan, who each picked up one sack apiece. Lewis was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Ponte Vedra had a senior duo take command as Cole Rosendahl threw for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Davitt Doherty picked up 113 receiving yards and one score.

Menendez's defeat dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Ponte Vedra, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Menendez has already played their next matchup, a 33-8 victory against Westside on the 26th. As for Ponte Vedra, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 35-9 win against Fleming Island on the 26th.
