Preview: Pinson Valley Indians vs. Meadowcreek Mustangs
The Pinson Valley Indians on the road again on Saturday and play against the Meadowcreek Mustangs at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Pinson Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Thursday.
Mortimer Jordan typically has all the answers at home, but Pinson Valley proved too difficult a challenge. They claimed a resounding 62-30 victory over the Blue Devils on the road. Given Pinson Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Mortimer Jordan is ranked 72nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinson Valley relied on the efforts of Austin Coner, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Clyde Walters, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamison Green, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Meadowcreek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norcross. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pinson Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Meadowcreek, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
