Softball Game Preview: St. George's Gryphons vs. Northpoint Christian Trojans

St. George hasn't had much luck against Northpoint Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Gryphons will look to defend their home field against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m.

On Friday, St. George's didn't have quite enough to beat Evangelical Christian and fell 7-6.

Meanwhile, Northpoint Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 16-1 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Trinity Garvin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Katy Bobo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Ryan, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Northpoint Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Northpoint Christian's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. George's, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
