Recap: First Academy Lions vs. St. Teresa's Catholic Crusaders
The First Academy Lions had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 55-51 win over St. Teresa's Catholic on Thursday. First Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
First Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan James, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points James has scored all season. Rylan Peacock was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Despite the loss, St. Teresa's Catholic saw an underclassman step up: Sermario MJ Wiggins scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyland Rangel, who scored eight points.
First Academy's win bumped their record up to 1-6. As for St. Teresa's Catholic, they bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
First Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Community Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Community Christian Academy is ranked 565th, while First Academy is ranked 582nd). As for St. Teresa's Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Colquitt Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
