Preview: Florence-Carlton Falcons vs. Loyola-Sacred Heart Rams
The Florence-Carlton Falcons will be playing at home against the Loyola-Sacred Heart Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Florence-Carlton comes in on 13 and Loyola-Sacred Heart on three.
Last Friday, Florence-Carlton blew past Thompson Falls, posting a 43-12 win on the road. The result was nothing new for Florence-Carlton, who have now won seven contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Mason Arlington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 226 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown. Ethan Alexander also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Loyola-Sacred Heart got themselves on the board against Anaconda on Thursday, but Anaconda never followed suit. They breezed by the Copperheads on the road to the tune of 46-0. Given Loyola-Sacred Heart's advantage in MaxPreps' Montana football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Anaconda is ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jack Clevenger was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Talen Reynolds, who gained 95 total yards and two touchdowns.
Florence-Carlton's win was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Whitehall/Harrison and 1-6 Anaconda (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 40.9% over those games). Loyola-Sacred Heart has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in seven of their first eight games, giving them a 7-1 record.
Everything came up roses for Florence-Carlton against Loyola-Sacred Heart when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 48-7 win. Will Florence-Carlton repeat their success, or does Loyola-Sacred Heart have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
