Baseball Recap: St. Stanislaus Comes Up Short

St. Stanislaus was the 9-4 winner over Picayune when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws fell just short of the Picayune Maroon Tide by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. The loss was the Rock-a-Chaws' first of the season.

Tate Murphy was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Murphy wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wiley Mossy, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Stanislaus fell to 2-1. As for Picayune, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

St. Stanislaus has already played their next contest, a 5-1 loss against Vancleave on the 18th. As for Picayune, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 victory against Bay on the 18th.
