With a playoff win on the line, Kinston rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Midway Raiders with a sharp 34-13 win. Considering the Vikings have won six contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Genesis Wiggins went supernova, rushing for 147 yards and one score on only 12 carries, while also picking up 38 receiving yards. Those 147 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Jones, who threw for 190 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes.

Kinston has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 6.55 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.53 in the others. As for Midway, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.

Looking ahead, Kinston will challenge Pasquotank County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so the Vikings' offense will have their work cut out for them. Midway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
