Softball Game Preview: Mintz Christian Academy Lions vs. Village Christian Academy Knights

The Mintz Christian Academy Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Village Christian Academy Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

Mintz Christian Academy can't be to happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Friday. They came up short against Northwood Temple Academy, falling 15-5. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.

June Clair Little made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Savannah Strickland, who got two hits.

Even though they lost, Mintz Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .342 or higher in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Village Christian Academy never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Spirit of Life Christian Academy on Thursday. They blew past the Eagles 12-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Kinley Myers made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Myers was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Allison Willette and Inga Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Willette scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Brown scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Megan Hurley was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
