Softball Recap: Johansen Comes Up Short

Johansen lost against Lathrop back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Vikings fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 18-16.

Ella Jackson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Duran, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Johansen has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Lathrop, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johansen will welcome Central Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Lathrop, they will host Livingston at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
