Oliver Springs dropped their record down to 17-11-1 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Coalfield Yellow Jackets, falling 23-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, with their most recent loss being a 13-0 defeat on April 15th.

As for Coalfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.

For Coalfield's part, Waylon Burgess was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Burgess has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Treece, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Luke Treece was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
