Preview: Cooperstown Hawkeyes vs. New York Mills Marauders
The Cooperstown Hawkeyes will head out on the road to face off against the New York Mills Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cooperstown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Cooperstown had to suffer through a rough 77-46 loss at the hands of Waterville. While losing is never fun, Cooperstown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Waterville is ranked 50th).
Despite the loss, Cooperstown had strong showings from Charlie Lambert, who scored 18 points along with eight assists, and Cooper Bradley, who scored six points along with six blocks and five rebounds. The matchup was Lambert's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Ben Lewis was another key contributor, scoring two points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for New York Mills at home against Westmoreland last Saturday as the squad secured a 72-41 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-22.
Cooperstown now has a losing record at 2-3. As for New York Mills, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
