Baseball Recap: Greeneview Wins Going Away Against Northeastern

Greeneview barely beat Northeastern the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams put the hurt on the Jets with a sharp 23-2 win on Monday. Considering the Rams have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Nick Hassid made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Greeneview's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 6-2 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Hassid was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Trent Webb was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Phillips, who went 3-for-6 with three runs and four RBI.

Greeneview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Greeneview's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8. As for Northeastern, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Greeneview will take on West Liberty-Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Northeastern, they will face off against Madison Plains at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.87 runs per game on average), something the Jets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
