Volleyball Recap: Lapeer's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lapeer can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Saginaw Trojans. The Lightning not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since November 4, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lapeer was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-14, 25-9.

Lapeer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allison Rutledge led the charge by getting four digs, three aces, and one block. Those four digs gave Rutledge a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna McInerney, who had eight assists and four aces.

They weren't the only good server: Lapeer was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-9-1. As for Saginaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Lapeer has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Davison on the 16th. As for Saginaw, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Grand Blanc on the 16th.
