Volleyball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

St. Joseph Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christ's Church Academy Eagles on Tuesday. The Flashes haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Christ's Church Academy scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18.

Emma Campbell Strickland paced St. Joseph Academy's offense, picking up six kills. Strickland got some help from Suzi Valbuena and her nine assists.

Christ's Church Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, St. Joseph Academy will head out on the road to face off against Global Outreach Charter Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Christ's Church Academy, they will host Beaches Chapel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
