Volleyball Preview: Sierra Chieftains vs. Yosemite Badgers
Sierra is 1-9 against Yosemite since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Sierra was dominant in the first set, but otherwise had just enough against a tough Kerman squad. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-18.
Gwyn Gilbert and Jolee Harshman were among the main playmakers for Sierra as the former had two aces and 11 assists and the latter had nine digs.
Meanwhile, Yosemite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Garces Memorial by a score of 2-1.
The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Yosemite lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-23, 15-13.
Sierra's victory bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Yosemite, their loss dropped their record down to 22-8.
