Baseball Recap: Gillespie Triumphs

Gillespie won the last time they faced Hillsboro and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Miners came out on top against the Hiltoppers by a score of 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Miners.

The team relied heavily on Jack Kaylor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Brody Shaw was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Gillespie's record now sits at 15-8. As for Hillsboro, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Gillespie will face off against Pawnee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Miners surely won't give up without a fight. Hillsboro will be paying especially close attention to Gillespie's contest: after Gillespie faces off against Calhoun, they'll take on Hillsboro again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
