Recap: Pana Panthers vs. Riverton Hawks
After flying high against the Sangamon Valley/Tri-City Storm on Wednesday, the Pana Panthers came back down to earth. Pana received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 57-40 to Riverton. Pana was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Riverton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Pana's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Joey Laker, who scored 17 points along with three steals, and Ryleigh Casner who scored eight points. Laker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Pana has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Riverton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pana will take on Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverton and Hillsboro will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
