AAAAA Region 3 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Effingham County moved up to 271 from 352 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAAAA Region 3.
The Rebels were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league.
Groves's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jessie Robbins threw for 123 and one touchdown and Thomas Fields had 86 yards receiving. On the ground Joe Stripling chipped in 12 yards. Sa'mard Osborne helped Groves' passing attack out by catching five balls for 37 yards.
The Rebels' Robbins and Osborne have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Robbins has thrown for 260 yards this season, while Osborne, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 14 catches for 139 yards. Richmond Hill's David Katzman leads the league in rushing yards with 288.
A big matchup in AAAAA Region 3 this week will be when the Wildcats take on Glynn Academy. Richmond Hill is currently in first, while the Terrors are in fourth.
Effingham County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,267 from 9,837.
