Basketball Game Preview: Boerne Greyhounds vs. New Braunfels Unicorns

The Boerne Greyhounds will square off against the New Braunfels Unicorns at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Boerne is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Pieper just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Braunfels, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Alamo Heights by a score of 52-40 on Friday.

Boerne better keep an eye on Ryler Wilson. She was instrumental in New Braunfels' win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. That's the most points Wilson has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Yaniska Mestre, who posted eight points along with five assists and five steals.

New Braunfels is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 18-17 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Boerne, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-12.

Boerne was able to grind out a solid victory over New Braunfels in their previous meeting back in January, winning 37-29. Does Boerne have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Braunfels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
