Softball Recap: La Porte Victorious

While La Porte's victory against Elkhart wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Slicers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lions 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Slicers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mia Maxel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, La Porte let Lexi Surowiec and Allie Wiencek run wild. Surowiec went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Wiencek went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Wiencek has posted over her last 13 matches.

La Porte's record now sits at 8-9. As for Elkhart, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

La Porte has already played their next game, a 12-1 loss against Lowell on the 3rd. As for Elkhart, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against Logansport on the 3rd.
