Football Recap: Basha Bears vs. Sunnyside Blue Devils
Basha owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sunnyside Blue Devils 28-0. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
A big part of Basha's victory came down to the chemistry between Amiah Walker and her top target Claire McMahon. Walker threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns while McMahon picked up 236 receiving yards and three touchdowns. McMahon's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked her fourth straight game with at least 121 receiving yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Basha's defense and their four sacks. Naomi Cloward was especially locked on to Sunnyside's QB and sacked her twice.
Basha pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.8 points per game. As for Sunnyside, they moved to 10-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Basha didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-0 defeat against Red Mountain on the 16th. Sunnyside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
