Softball Recap: Antioch Victorious

Antioch and Niles West pushed the score to 14-9 the last time they played Niles West, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Sequoits skirted past the Wolves 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Sequoits, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The victory made it two in a row for Antioch and bumps their season record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Niles West, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Antioch will welcome Wauconda at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Niles West, they will venture away from home to take on Mundelein at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
